German Bionic has been selected as one of three finalists in the Artificial Intelligence category of the Made in Germany Awards 2026. The nomination recognizes an approach to AI and robotics focused on supporting people in physically demanding jobs and enhancing human capabilities.

The awards were initiated by science communicator Dr. Jacob Beautemps (Breaking Lab), in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space and SPRIND, the Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation, led by Director Rafael Laguna de la Vera. Federal Minister Dorothee Bär serves as patron of the awards.

Human-Centric Robotics for the Future of Work

With its AI-powered exoskeleton EXIA, German Bionic brings intelligent robotics directly into the workplace. The technology provides adaptive physical assistance during lifting, carrying, and physically demanding movements, supporting people wherever human skills, experience, and involvement remain essential.

In healthcare, where nursing professionals face considerable physical demands every day. In logistics, where workers keep global supply chains moving. And in manufacturing and at airports, where handling heavy loads is part of everyday operations.

As societies age and skilled labor becomes increasingly scarce, Human Augmentation offers tremendous potential to reduce physical strain, protect workers' health, and help people stay active and productive throughout their working lives.

As a pioneer in Physical AI, German Bionic demonstrated early on what is possible when industrial data and AI development come together in Germany. The nomination is also a wonderful recognition of the entire team and its commitment to developing AI and robotics that deliver tangible benefits for people.

Beyond German Bionic, this approach could serve as a blueprint for companies across Germany and Europe, showing how industrial expertise combined with AI can translate into globally competitive innovation.
